Sweet 16 Cinderella States https://www.mousetravel.net/news/entertainment/march-madness-cinderella-teams-by-state Mon, 30 Sep 2024 09:14:35 +0000 https://www.mousetravel.net/?post_type=blog&p=68835 Each year, one or more college basketball teams find their footing under the blinding lights of March Madness. That gives the nation a plucky underdog to root for amid the legal online sportsbooks fervor for the 68-team men’s NCAA Tournament.

Whether it was the Steph Curry-led Davidson Wildcats of 2008, who slayed Gonzaga, Georgetown, and Wisconsin on the way to the school’s first Elite Eight berth in 39 years, or a Power Five team that was down on its luck such as Georgetown in 2001, Missouri in 2002, and countless others over the last two decades — March Madness rarely fails to deliver each spring

With college basketball soon starting, many customers are using betting apps to tune into the games. Meanwhile we’ll be looking forward to the spring. If there are any cinderellas, they’ll likely come from the following states.

States With Most Double-Digit Seeds Reaching Sweet 16

Nationally, the bellwether states when it comes to March Madness Cinderella success are Ohio (five teams), then California, New York, and Washington (four teams each). Several states have produced three each: North Carolina, Florida, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Illinois, New Jersey, and Oregon. New Jersey produced great Cinderella stories each of the past two years, both No. 15 seeds, as Saint Peter’s reached the Elite Eight in 2022 and Princeton got to the Sweet 16 last year.

The other state producing multiple double-digit seeds in the tournament’s second weekend is Wisconsin, with two, according to Sports Reference CBB data.

No team has been a double-digit seed and won a national title, but underdogs can still play out for their backers when they win it all. in 2023, Connecticut was the No. 4 seed in the West Region and had +1600 odds at BetMGM Sportsbook to cut down the nets at the Final Four.

How Far Did NCAA Tournament Cinderellas Advance?

Of the 51 double-digit seeded teams to reach the Sweet 16 since 2000, four (or 7.8%) have gone on to make the Final Four: George Mason in 2006, VCU in 2011, Loyola Chicago in 2018, and UCLA in 2021. Each were No. 11 seeds entering the tournament.

The lowest seed to reach the national title game since 2000 was No. 8 – Butler in 2011, Kentucky in 2014, and UNC in 2022. The lowest seed ever to reach an Elite Eight was No. 15 St. Peter’s, which did so in 2022 after beating No. 2 seed Kentucky, No. 7 Murray State, and No. 3 Purdue.

The lowest seed to ever win it all in college basketball was eighth seed Villanova in 1985, with the Wildcats upsetting Georgetown in the title game that season.

Women’s March Madness Cinderellas by State https://www.mousetravel.net/news/entertainment/womens-march-madness-cinderellas-by-state Mon, 30 Sep 2024 09:14:13 +0000 https://www.mousetravel.net/?post_type=blog&p=68849 The Women’s NCAA Basketball Tournament is becoming larger by the year. In the past 10 NCAA tourneys for women, the No. 1 seed has won its region 25 out of 40 times, and No. 2 seeds have reached the Final Four nine times in that span.

But upsets still abound in the earlier rounds, and that’s our focus here. Since 2000, 22 teams seeded No. 10 or lower have reached the Sweet 16 in the Women’s NCAA Basketball Tournament. That includes two No. 13 seeds and three teams emerging from the No. 12 seed line.

Here is a look at those teams. The most recent teams to emerge as Sweet 16 Cinderellas were two No. 10 seeds, Creighton and South Dakota, in 2022.

Which State Produces Most Cinderellas?

The state of Washington gave us the most thrilling women’s upsets in the past two-plus decades, with three – all of them by the same school. We’ll leave it up to you to decide if US sports betting apps users can pick out any trends for their wagers in 2024.

As it was just starting to emerge as a perennial top-25 women’s program in the 2010s, Gonzaga kept surprising people during March Madness. In 2011, Gonzaga was a No. 11 seed and defeated sixth-seeded Iowa, No. 3 UCLA, and No. 7 Louisville to reach the Elite Eight, where the Zags fell to top seed Stanford in the region final.

Gonzaga was seeded 11th again the following year and repeated its upset feat, knocking off No. 6 seed Rutgers and No. 3 Miami (Florida) before losing to No. 2 Kentucky in the Sweet 16. The magic seeding number returned for the Bulldogs in 2015, when they knocked out No. 6 seed George Washington and No. 3 Oregon State before losing to No. 2 Tennessee in the region semifinals.

Biggest NBA Finals Underdogs https://www.mousetravel.net/news/entertainment/biggest-nba-finals-underdogs Mon, 30 Sep 2024 09:14:04 +0000 https://www.mousetravel.net/?post_type=blog&p=68791 The days of one-team dominance in the NBA appear to have come and gone, for the time being. Three of the four past league champs entered the postseason with title odds of +850 or higher, speaking to the newfound parity in the 30-team association. It’s a trend to watch for folks using the best US betting sites to place an NBA futures wagers as the next season looms.

USBettingReport.com wanted to know which teams were the 10 biggest underdogs (according to their odds at the beginning of the playoffs) to win an NBA title in the past 40 years. This data was pulled from SportsOddsHistory.com.

10 Biggest Underdog NBA Champs Since 1985

Year Team Odds
1995 Houston Rockets +1800
2011 Dallas Mavericks +1800
2022 Golden State Warriors +1000
2023 Denver Nuggets +1000
2019 Toronto Raptors +975
2021 Milwaukee Bucks +850
2004 Detroit Pistons +700
1994 Houston Rockets +600
2006 Miami Heat +500
2016 Cleveland Cavaliers +475

Several Recent Champions Defied Odds

The 2022 Golden State Warriors and 2023 Denver Nuggets each entered the playoffs with +1000 title odds. The 2021 Milwaukee Bucks were at +850 and the 2019 Toronto Raptors sat at +975 when they began their title run.

The only other team since 1985 to enter the postseason with odds in the four-digit range came in the past two years, pointing out to customers at US sports betting apps that this trend might be the exception more than the new rule.

Which Team Really Was Biggest Underdog?

Again, Houston in 1995 and Dallas in 2011 share the distinction of having the longest pre-playoff odds for any NBA champion. But you could argue that neither was a true “underdog” winner. The Rockets had won the title in 1994; the Mavericks lost in the NBA Finals in 2006 and had reached the postseason in each of the 10 seasons before they finally won it all in 2011.

The Warriors’ 2022 team was also a bit of an abnormality, coming on the heels of three NBA championships in seven years under Steve Kerr’s leadership.

That leaves the 2023 Nuggets as perhaps the league’s most unlikely (or underdog) champion at NBA betting sites.

Denver had never made it to the NBA Finals before the team’s run last season. The Nuggets lost the Western Conference final in 2009 and 2020 and were ousted in the West semifinals several times, most recently in 2021.

That was until Michael Malone’s bunch ran the table a year ago, knocking off the Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers, and Miami Heat on the way. The Nuggets had a combined record of 16-4 in those postseason contests.

Many might argue about which NBA team was the “biggest underdog” in league history since 1985 to win it all, but one can definitely make an argument that Malone and company fit the bill.

Top 10 Las Vegas Wedding Chapels https://www.mousetravel.net/news/entertainment/best-wedding-chapels-vegas Fri, 23 Aug 2024 07:29:02 +0000 https://www.mousetravel.net/?post_type=blog&p=67536 Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, Lily Allen and David Harbour, plus Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner are just a few A-list couples who have gotten married at a Las Vegas wedding chapel.

Despite recent reports of turbulence in the ‘Bennifer’ marriage, their journey began in true Vegas style a few years back, exchanging vows at midnight in ‘A Little White Wedding Chapel’.

“We flew to Vegas, stood in line for a license with four other couples, all making the same journey to the world’s wedding capital,” Lopez wrote in her newsletter, according to The New York Times.

Las Vegas earned its title as the wedding capital of the world back in 1931 when Clark County (as the Times put it) “removed the need for blood tests and waiting periods, turning the city into a go-to spot for quick, affordable weddings”.

Today, couples can choose from a wide array of wedding packages, from casual drive-thru ceremonies where T-shirts and shorts are welcomed, to grand celebrations where newlyweds can be ‘Blissed by Elvis’.

With wedding season well and truly here, BonusFinder.com, America’s leading casino bonus and online casino review site, researched which Las Vegas wedding chapels received the best online reviews on Tripadvisor, Facebook, Google and Yelp – as well as which chapels are the most popular on social media.

Top 10 Best-Reviewed Vegas Wedding Chapels

Top 10 Best-Reviewed Vegas Wedding Chapels

Leading the rankings of Las Vegas wedding chapels with top-notch reviews is the Bliss Wedding Chapel, boasting a stellar 4.95 rating out of 5. The ceremonies at the chapel range from a $449 “Bliss With a Kiss” package to the $1,299 “Rolls Royce Ultimate Bliss.” There is also an option for packages with an Elvis impersonator, ranging from $469 to $699.

The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Elvis Presley, who died in 1977, was a longtime performer in Las Vegas showrooms, creating a high-profile image that lives on today with Elvis impersonators available for many occasions. Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker famously had a wedding ceremony with an Elvis impersonator, however they later revealed they didn’t have a marriage license.

Elvis-themed weddings remain a big hit in Las Vegas chapels. In fact, the 1964 film ‘Viva Las Vegas’ famously features Elvis Presley’s character, Lucky Jackson, tying the knot with Rusty Martin (Ann-Margret) at the Little Church of the West.

For those seeking other Elvis-related ceremonies, check out themed opportunities at these best-reviewed chapels honoring The King: Elvis Chapel (No. 4) and the Graceland Wedding Chapel (No. 7).

Top 10 Vegas Wedding Chapels on Social Media

The Graceland Wedding Chapel reigns supreme when it comes to social media, amassing a substantial 161,296 followers across Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter).

The Graceland Wedding Chapel has seen its fair share of celebrity visits, including Jon Bon Jovi, Billy Ray Cyrus, Meat Loaf, Aaron Neville and Johnny Depp, according to its website.

No matter which chapel you choose, a Las Vegas wedding is bound to charm those who ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love,’ all while steering clear of the ‘Heartbreak Hotel.’

In each case, the chapels will go out of their way to accommodate.

No matter what, these chapels will always go the extra mile to ensure a perfect experience.

Methodology

To determine the most popular Esports players overall, BonusFinder.com used resources such as Liquipedia and Esports Charts to gather a list of 171 popular Esports players.
